Capitoline Museums in Rome

Founded in 1471, works in the Capitoline Museum form one of the world’s first public collections.  Although many of Rome’s treasures  have found their way to the Vatican Museum, the Capitoline does boast a very impressive collection of ancient sculpture as well as some 16^th and 17^th century paintings by the most famous artists of the era.

Opening Hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 9:00 am- 8:00 pm; Closed Monday. Also closed January 1, May 1 and  December 25

Costs: Entrance fee to be paid in cash when picking up the reserved tickets
