Guided wine tasting and tour at a wine producing estate, gourmet lunch, visit to the Monastery of the Roses

This tour is a must for food and wine lovers! We’ll cross the Veneto’s borders into Friuli, a region famed for its gastronomic delights.  A scenic drive through the countryside brings us to our first stop of the day, a visit to a well known wine maker who will guide us on a visit of a high tech wine production plant and its cellars. This expert will then lead us on a guided tasting of an array of different wines, including Carbenet, Merlot, the region’s own Refosco,  Verduzzo and the famous Tocai Friulano.  Of course, no tasting would be complete without a selection of local delicacies including cheeses and salamis.  Next it’s off to a leisurely food lover’s lunch featuring the region’s specialties at a typical trattoria where we’ll have another opportunity to sample the area’s wines and end the meal with that Italian super hero of digestives, Grappa.  After our lunch we’ll have a chance to walk it off at a visit to an 11^th century monastery, known as the Monastery of the Roses because its very particular micro climate keeps roses blooming all year around!
