The Medici’s rivals, the wealthy Pitti family, commissioned Brunelleschi (architect of Florence’s famous Duomo) to design their home in the late 15th century. Today this grand palace houses five museums with a diverse collection of art and artefacts ranging from the opulent private living quarters to 16th and 17th century paintings ( in the Palatine Gallery) and even a costume gallery.

Opening Hours:
Pitti Palace’s museums have different opening hours:
Palatine Gallery and Royal Apartments: Tuesday- Saturday, 8:15 am- 6:30 pm
Costume Gallery: Tuesday- Saturday, 8:15 am- 2:30 pm
Silver and Porcelain Museums: Tuesday- Saturday, 8:15 am- 5:30 pm. Closed the first and last Monday of each month
Also closed January 1, May 1 and December 25
