On a hillside overlooking the valleys beyond Florence, the charming B&B La Torricella is immersed in peaceful green countryside only minutes from the center of Florence.  Proudly run by its gracious owner Lisa, this lovely property has belonged to her family for over 200 years. Completely renovated recently and carefully maintained,  La Torricella was a guard tower built in 1300 and was even used as a military radio station in the last century. Today this B&B is stylishly decorated providing comfortable and affordable accommodations.

La Torricella has 7 double rooms and 1 apartment that can accommodate up to 4 people. All of the rooms have been recently restored and have modern bathrooms, satellite TV, a safe, and a telephone. There is an above-ground pool on the grounds surrounded by a wooden deck that bring it to ground level and make it easy to access. Mountain bikes are available to rent.  Lessons in classic Tuscan cooking, bread sculpture, painting on glass, and dried flower compositions can be arranged.

Located 4 km south of the center of Florence in the countryside, it is advisable but not necessary to have a car when staying at La Torricella since public transportation is about 1/2 km away. This is a very pretty area with several old estates and villas. The village of Galluzzo is 1.5 km away and there you will find a daily market, shops, and banks, as well as a small supermarket.  From here, it is very easy to take public transportation to the city center.

The center of Florence and the train station is about 20 minutes away by public transportation. The Siena-Florence highway is close by and Siena is about 1 hour from here. The Pisa airport is also 1 hour away.   All of the major highways are easy to access from this area.
