This opera house is the oldest working theatre in all of Europe, and, some say, with the best acoustics. It was inaugurated on November 4, 1737 for King Charles’ birthday, just six months after the construction contracts were signed! The works of Europe’s greatest composers have been performed during the theatre’s 3 centuries of history, among them Guiseppe Verdi, who debuted there in 1841. |
