Shopping Neighborhoods
Many of Venice’s shops can be found in the historic and artistic areas of the city, but due to the city’s confusing geographical layout, it is easier to locate them by landmark. Designer shops can be found in the area called San Moisè while most other shops are located between the famous areas of the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco. The area of Mercerie, hosts hundreds of different shops and many of its side streets contain even more stores. Many of Italy’s most famous designers have stores and boutiques in Venice, but the highlights of shopping in La Serenissima are its artisan crafts ranging from hand blown Murano glass, to Carneval masks, Burano lace, silks, and marbleized paper.
